Geokult is a collaboration between artist/researcher Tracey M Benson and cartographer/programmer Martin Drury. This blog explores their mutual interests in travel, cartography, cultural and historical geography, sustainability and technology.
This blog was created in May 2011, as a means to research themes of interest for a trip to Turkey September – October 2011, where Tracey and Marty worked on the ‘cultural strangers’ project as part of an artist-in-residence at Babayan Culture House.
Since then, Geokult has continued as a collaborative project, driven by shared interests in mapping, geography, humanity and sustainability. This includes participation in a range of activities including SCANZ2013, in New Plymouth, New Zealand in Jan/Feb 2013.
We also manage a travel website, where we share advice, stories and photos at www.geokult-travel.com. You can also find Geokult on Facebook, where we share lots of great information about mapping, travel and our other themes.
